WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!
CORPORATE and SCHOOL TEAMS
There will be awards for the corporate or workplace team and for the Secondry school with the most number of entrants (as a % of pupils) in any one event and for Primary Schools with the best banner, which will then be displayed in the front window of Napier Mega until end of term.
FANCY DRESS
Prizes will be awarded to the best individual fancy dress and to the best team fancy dress!
REGISTRATION
Registration can be completed either on-line (at www.megawalk.co.nz ) or by visiting the customer services desk at either Mitre 10 MEGA Napier or Hastings. On-line payments made via this website are secure. Limited registration facilities will be available on the day so please enter NOW. Entries on race day at either the Awatoto or Ocean Spa start points will be CASH ONLY registrations.
RACE PACKS
Every entrant will receive a race pack which will include a hi-vis vest branded for the event, a bandana from Canteen and a $10 discount voucher for The Shoe Clinic in Emmerson St. Race packs can be collected from either Mitre 10 MEGA store from Monday 5th November. Last minute registrations will be available at this time but to avoid delays we urge you to REGISTER NOW!
TIMING
All participants in The Shoe Clinic Challenge will be professionally timed by Peak Timing using race numbers. Times will be posted on the website after the event. Prizes will be awarded to the first man and woman in the MEGA and Half MEGA.
START TIMES
The MEGA - starts Mitre 10 MEGA Hastings - 7.30am.
The HB Today HALF MEGA - starts Awatoto - 9.00am.
The SHORT MEGA - starts Marine Parade, behind Ocean Spa - 10.00am.
The MEGA MEANDER - starts Perfume Point 9.00am

Riverbank (between Chesterhope Bridge and Awatoto)- Water Stop

Awatoto (also HALF MEGA start point) - Water Stop, Port-a-Loos
Napier Boundary (opp Ellison Rd) - Water Stop, Public Toilets
Ocean Spa ( also SHORT WALK start point) - Water Stop, Public Toilets
Perfume Point - (also MEGA MEANDER start point) Water Stop, Public Toilets
Ahuriri-Water Stop (opposite Speights), Public Toilets (next to Blue Water Hotel)
BUS TRANSPORT
Buses will be available to the start points from Mitre 10 MEGA Napier before each event starts and will also return to the each of the start point after the prize giving at approx 1pm.$2 coin charge on boarding bus for all routes, proceeds donated to Canteen.
Please advise us prior to event if you need to use bus with wheelchair access.
PRIZE GIVING and the FINISH LINE
There will be lots going on at the Finish Line. Canteen is arranging a series of activities and events to keep you entertained! Food and drink will be available, there will be a Bouncy Castle and loads more.
Prize giving will be at approx 12pm with the following prizes up for grabs:
The MEGA (28km)
First Man and First Woman home - A fantastic prize provided by The Shoe Clinic. Plus each will receive a specially crafted trophy!
Second Man and Second Woman home - A fantastic prize provided by The Shoe Clinic.
The HB Today HALF MEGA (15km)

Second Man and Second Woman home - A fantastic prize provided by The Shoe Clinic.
Plus there will be prizes for the best individual FANCY DRESS, the best TEAM FANCY DRESS, Tropheys for CORPORATE or WORKPLACE with the most number of entries the SECONDRY SCHOOL with the most number of entries. And there will be loads of SPOT PRIZES! Check with the white board on display to see if youv’e won a prize.
RACE BRIEFING
1. Stay on the pathway at all times
2. Listen to marshals instructions especially when crossing the roads. They will let you know when it is safe to cross.
3. Arrows have been provided where there are no marshals.
4. There are no road closures.
5. When you cross Pandora Road and head towards Stephen Hill Motors and turn right at that corner. Follow the marshals directions when you are crossing the road to get to Mitre 10 and the finish line.
6. In the event of not completing the walk you must return your tag and race number to the nearest drink station or to the half way or finish line.
7. If you required medical aid or are unable to continue and need assistance go to/or get someone to go to the nearest marshal or drink station and St Johns will be send directly to you.
8. Toilets, Portaloos and Water stations and lollies for energy, are approx 3-4km apart
9. Sunscreen will be available again at the half way mark of the course,
11. Prize giving at midday at Mitre 10 Mega Napier
12. Buses returning people to Hastings, Awatoto, Ocean Spa, & Perfume Point to pick up their cars will be leaving Mitre 10 Napier at the conclusion of the prize giving.
